It gives me great pleasure to announce and invite you to the International Workshop and Symposium
on Exstrophy, Epispadias and Hypospadias being organized by my department between February 10- to 12, 2006. Exstrophy
bladder, though uncommon, remains a challenge in pediatric surgery and pediatric urology. Over the past few years advances
have occurred in the surgical treatment with increasing tendency toward single stage repair of the entire anomaly. On the
other hand, as patients are followed up in their respective counters, there is an emerging consensus that staged management
may perhaps offer better results. Due to the rarity of the condition single institution and single author experience is the
exception rather than the rule and with segregation of surgery of these anomalies to specific centers, especially in the western
world, there may be few opportunities for observing the surgery of these anomalies in the hands of experts.
With these
facts in mind we have put together the programme of this operative workshop, which brings together a panel of expert speakers
and surgeons. A variety of operative procedures will be demonstrated in 6 sessions and the lectures of the Symposium cover
this entire anomaly from the embryology to failed repair.
Please mark Lucknow in your diary for February 2006.
